A memoir of resilience, motherhood, healing and hope.
A memoir of resilience, motherhood, healing and hope.
Some stories are written to be remembered. Others are written so that someone, somewhere, knows they are not alone.
The Peace She Promised is a deeply personal memoir of one woman’s journey from silence and survival to healing and hope.
When the life she had imagined began to unravel, she found herself facing choices no mother ever wishes to make. Determined to create a different future for her daughters, she embarked on a journey marked by courage, heartbreak, resilience and an unwavering belief that love could become stronger than fear.
Spanning years of personal transformation, the memoir explores the realities of intimate partner violence, emotional trauma, single motherhood, rebuilding a career and discovering the quiet strength that emerges when life asks us to begin again.
More than a story of survival, The Peace She Promised is about choosing hope over despair, healing over bitterness and finding the courage to rewrite the future – not only for ourselves, but for those we love.
The title, The Peace She Promised, comes from a promise I made long before I ever imagined writing a book – a promise that my daughters would grow up knowing peace, dignity. and unconditional love. That promise became the heart of this memoir.
This memoir was never simply about sharing my story. It was about opening conversations that are often left unspoken.
The quiet strength that helps us rebuild, even when life feels impossible.
The courage to protect, nurture and create a different future for those we love.
The journey from surviving to living - with grace, forgiveness and hope.
The belief that even after life's darkest seasons, healing is possible and love can become stronger than fear.
Creating space for honest conversations about abuse, recovery and breaking the silence.
Rediscovering identity, purpose and the courage to begin again - personally and professionally.
Every painting in The Peace She Promised tells a story of its own.
As I wrote this memoir, I wanted readers to experience not only the words, but also the emotions woven into each chapter.
These original paintings were lovingly created by my cousin, Rani, a gifted artist whose journey has been intertwined with my family for decades. Together, her artwork and my words create a reading experience where stories are not only read – they are seen, felt and remembered.
